Kajang, 14 May 2025 — IKRAM Works Sdn Bhd (IKRAM) proudly hosted a strategic collaboration visit from Kolej Vokasional Kangar (KV Kangar) at its headquarters in Kajang under the programme “Lawatan Kerjasama Strategik Kolej Vokasional Kangar ke IKRAM Works Sdn Bhd.” The visit marked a meaningful step in fostering industry-academic ties and exploring potential collaborations in technical education and research.
The delegation from KV Kangar was led by Tuan Zazlan Bin Darus, Director of Kolej Vokasional Kangar, along with key academic staff and lecturers. Representing IKRAM was Ir. Ts. Mohd Najib Abdullah, Director of IKRAM Engineering Consulting Sdn Bhd, accompanied by directors from various IKRAM divisions.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome by the chairperson, Ts. Mohd Farhan Bin Hasan, Assistant BIM Manager of IKRAM, followed by an insightful opening address by Ir. Ts. Mohd Najib Abdullah. In his speech, he emphasized IKRAM’s commitment to nurturing future technical talents and promoting knowledge sharing between academia and industry. Tuan Zazlan then delivered a speech highlighting the importance of such collaborations for student exposure and institutional growth.
A key highlight of the programme was a dual presentation by Ts. Mohd Farhan Bin Hasan, titled “Introduction to IKRAM” and “IKRAM Embracing BIM for Digital Construction.” The session highlighted IKRAM’s evolution into a digital-driven engineering consultancy and demonstrated how Building Information Modeling (BIM) has been implemented across disciplines, particularly in slope, earthwork, and infrastructure projects. The engaging presentation sparked curiosity among students and educators, leading to interactive discussions on BIM workflows and real-life project applications.
KV Kangar also presented an overview of their academic achievements, vocational programmes, and student successes. This was followed by a specialized session on Terrestrial Laser Scanning (TLS) technology, presented by IKRAM’s geospatial team. The session showcased the principles and applications of TLS in engineering, including high-precision 3D mapping, structural documentation, and topographic analysis. Attendees were introduced to real-world project examples where TLS played a vital role in site assessment, deformation monitoring, and digital modeling.
After a lunch networking session, the delegation was escorted to Block 8, home to IKRAM’s ISO-accredited Pavement Laboratory. During the technical visit, guest were given a live demonstration of cutting-edge tools used in pavement, highway, and transportation engineering. These included technologies for non-destructive testing (FWD, GPR), asphalt performance evaluation, material durability analysis, and advanced pavement design software. The hands-on exposure provided valuable insight into the real-world application of engineering theory and highlighted IKRAM’s capacity for high-precision testing and data analytics in transportation infrastructure.
The visit concluded with discussions on potential areas of collaboration, including student internship opportunities, technical training, joint research, and future memoranda of collaboration to formalize partnerships between IKRAM and KV Kangar.
This initiative aligns with IKRAM’s commitment to being a Centre of Engineering Solutions and bridging the gap between vocational education and real-world engineering practices.
