KAJANG, 31 July 2026 – IKRAM welcomed an academic and technical delegation from the Faculty of Civil Engineering Technology, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) to IKRAM Headquarters, marking another meaningful initiative towards strengthening industry–academia collaboration and promoting the exchange of technical knowledge, expertise, innovation and best practices.
The UTHM delegation comprised nine lecturers, led by Ir. Ts. Dr. Mohd Kamaruzaman, Head of Department. The visit was aimed at providing the academic delegation with greater exposure to IKRAM’s engineering capabilities, technological applications, project management practices and industry-driven solutions, while creating opportunities for closer collaboration between academia and the engineering industry.
Representing IKRAM during the visit were Ts. Mohd Yazip Bin Matori, Director of IKRAM PAVES Sdn. Bhd. (IPSB Laboratory Division); Ts. Mohd Hafiz Bin Mohd Razali, Senior Manager of IKRAM Engineering Services Sdn. Bhd. (IESSB Construction Division); Ts. Noor Azliliyana Binti Kamarohim, Senior Manager of IKRAM Engineering Services Sdn. Bhd. (IESSB Structural Testing Appraisal Division); and Ts. Mohd Farhan Bin Hasan, representative from the IKRAM Works CEO Office, together with other members of the respective technical teams.
The programme commenced at approximately 9.30 a.m. with the arrival of the UTHM delegation, followed by a welcoming address by Ts. Mohd Yazip Bin Matori. In his remarks, he welcomed the delegation to IKRAM and highlighted the importance of continuous engagement between industry and academic institutions in developing technical competencies and promoting knowledge exchange. This was followed by an opening address from Ir. Ts. Dr. Mohd Kamaruzaman on behalf of UTHM.
The programme continued with a corporate and technical presentation by Ts. Mohd Farhan Bin Hasan, who introduced IKRAM’s wide-ranging engineering and consultancy services and shared how Building Information Modelling (BIM) has been progressively embraced within the organisation. The presentation highlighted IKRAM’s efforts in integrating digital technologies into engineering workflows to enhance coordination, information management, visualisation and overall project delivery. The UTHM delegation subsequently delivered a presentation introducing the university’s capabilities, areas of expertise and potential avenues for collaboration.
A fruitful discussion followed, focusing on potential areas of cooperation and future initiatives to further strengthen industry–academia relations between IKRAM and UTHM. The engagement provided both organisations with an opportunity to exchange perspectives on technical knowledge development, applied research, innovation, professional exposure, knowledge-sharing programmes and other potential collaborative activities that could benefit both academia and industry.
As part of the technical visit, the UTHM delegation was then brought to the IKRAM PAVES Data Collection Division, where they were welcomed by Ts. Vincent Ting, Director of IKRAM PAVES (Data Collection), and his team. The delegation was briefed on IKRAM’s pavement data collection capabilities, specialised assets and the functions of various equipment deployed for road and pavement assessment. They were also introduced to modern technologies and data acquisition approaches used to support condition assessment, engineering analysis and infrastructure asset management.
The delegation subsequently visited the IKRAM PAVES Laboratory, where they were given further exposure to specialised laboratory equipment as well as the processes, procedures and technical requirements involved in pavement material sampling and testing. The visit provided the lecturers with valuable insights into how laboratory investigations and field data collection complement engineering evaluation and support evidence-based decision-making in pavement and infrastructure projects.
The academic and technical visit concluded at approximately 12.30 p.m. with a group photography session. Overall, the engagement served as a valuable platform for knowledge exchange and demonstrated IKRAM’s continued commitment to supporting academia, encouraging the adoption of innovative engineering technologies and fostering stronger partnerships between educational institutions and industry practitioners.
Through engagements such as this, IKRAM continues to position itself as a Centre of Engineering Solutions, while contributing to the development of future-ready engineering knowledge, research, innovation and professional competencies through meaningful industry–academia collaboration.
