Kajang, Selangor – From May 8th to 9th, 2024, IKRAM Works Sdn Bhd (IKRAM) organized a highly informative two-day course on “Slope Investigation & Engineering – Level 1” (KURSUS PENYIASATAN & KEJURUTERAAN CERUN TAHAP 1) at the IKRAM T.E.P Centre. The event, aimed at enhancing knowledge and skills in the field of geotechnical engineering, drew participants from a range of organizations including IKRAM, JKR Cawangan Kejuruteraan Cerun (JKR CKC), Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam (MBSA), and TAR Engineering Sdn Bhd.
The primary objectives of the course were multifaceted, focusing on the broad spectrum of slope engineering and stability. Participants were introduced to crucial aspects of slope terminology, features, types, and the factors contributing to slope stability and failure.
One of the highlights was the detailed discussion on the Slope Guidelines in Malaysia. This segment included insights into the “Guidelines of Hillside Development” and “Technical Issues of Geotechnical Report,” providing participants with a comprehensive understanding of the regulatory framework governing slope engineering in Malaysia.
Further enriching the curriculum, the course delved into “Site Investigation” techniques, bifurcated into Surface and Subsurface Investigations. This was complemented by sessions on “Geology for Slope,” “Slope Proforma & Site Collection,” and “Slope Instrumentation,” ensuring a thorough grounding in both theoretical and practical aspects of slope investigation.
A standout feature of the event was the exposure to cutting-edge technology in slope investigation. Participants had the opportunity to learn about the adoption of Terrestrial Laser Scanners, a technology that is revolutionizing the field with its precision and efficiency in capturing slope data.
The course fostered a collaborative learning environment, bringing together professionals from various sectors to share their experiences and expertise. Attendees from JKR CKC, MBSA, and TAR Engineering Sdn Bhd, among others, engaged actively in discussions, workshops, and hands-on sessions, ensuring a dynamic and interactive learning experience.
The success of the “Slope Investigation & Engineering” course underscores IKRAM Works Sdn Bhd’s commitment to advancing knowledge and practice in geotechnical engineering. By providing such platforms for continuous learning and professional development, IKRAM Works continues to contribute significantly to the safety and sustainability of infrastructure development in Malaysia.
